The Pulse application does two things. It downloads images from the web, images that will be used as your desktop wallpaper. That’s the first thing Pulse does. And the second thing is that it automatically changes your wallpaper. By default, Pulse will change the wallpaper every 20 minutes. Access the Options menu and you can easily change this default value.

Pulse needs .NET Framework 4.0 or higher to work. Pulse works with PCs powered by Windows 7 or Windows 8. Pulse also works on Macs, if you have Mono for OS X, version 3.2.3 or newer.

While Pulse runs on your Windows PC, you will see an icon in the system tray. Right click this icon and you will be presented with a menu that features the following options: next picture, previous picture, start timer, ban image, open cache folder, download images, options, close.

From the Options menu you can customize the way Pulse works: tell it where to search for pictures, tell it what sort of pictures to look for, instruct it to wait for a certain period of time before changing the wallpaper, set it so Pulse automatically runs at startup, and more.

Pulse is free software. If you think that Pulse is useful, if you like the functionality it puts at your disposal, then consider making a donation.

Download wallpapers and automatically change wallpapers with the free Pulse tool.

Pros

Pulse is available for Windows and OS X with Mono 3.2.3 or newer. Pulse downloads images and uses them as your desktop wallpaper; you can customize the way Pulse looks for images. Pulse can automatically change the desktop wallpaper. On Windows 7 PCs, Pulse can change the Windows logon screen background. Pulse is free software (donations are welcome).

Cons

None that I could think of.
